
The Ministry launched the program on the 19th December
2024 in Harare and participants included the Deputy Minister
of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Hon, E. Jesaya who
was the Guest of Honour. The launch drew attendants of
about 40 participants inclusive of Chiefs, Cultural
practitioners, Cultural experts, communities and Arts Officials
within the Ministry and academics.
Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture was
granted assistance Funding by UNESCO ICH Fund
in 2024 to implement a two-year project of raising
awareness on the 2003 Convention for the
safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in
all 10 provinces. The target group being Traditional
leaders, youth, women and people with disability.
The project involves translating a summary of the
2003 Convention into local languages i.e Sotho,
Ndau, Tonga, Venda and Sign Language. An
information centre in the Ministry will be
established that will manage online platforms and
share content, information and experiences with
communities across the country during the Project
ZWE-01901.
